Whiteout & Pinocchio Illusions

I remember when these colors
Had a spectrum
More than just varied shades
Of gray and white
Gray blots on white waves

I'm a slave to progress
But my body's now a numb case
Oversized carry-on
Forced into a small space
I lean into the wind
Shoulder the phantom weight

They say that no one goes
To places no one knows
That's far from obvious
When wanderlust takes hold
Watch a man become an island
Just a lonely stone
In contradicting roles

And with my eyes closed
I still see flecks
Just blinding white specks
With reverence to range
My panicked eyes strain

And the air's so coarse
The pale one's finger's on the pulse
The mind shed a frozen abacus
With immobile stones

Every night I build my tomb
Lying fetal in a barren womb
Another final home
I'll find a vibrant dream to roam
