Wishing Well

I wish power wasn't what people
Who'd abuse it wanted
I didn't have to go to the dentist
I could sit down to write and be ready to go
I could remember all the things I used to know
And change what I believe
I wish so many of these wishes weren't about me

We'd run away together, live in a tree
We'd stop becoming people we pretended to be
My friends would find this album, recommend it to me
I'd stop dwelling on forgotten thoughts and near misses
These coins would be worth their weight in wishes

I wish I had more time with my friends
I was better at staying in touch
I was fine with change and looked forward to moving
I thought that the world was improving
And when the lights were on I could dream

We'd run away together, live in a tree
We'd stop becoming people we pretended to be
My friends would find this album, recommend it to me
I'd stop dwelling on forgotten thoughts and near misses
These coins would be worth their weight in wishes
