Moving Mountains

A gentle hand could move mountains in me
A word could rearrange the horizon somehow
You keep the truth in your back pocket like a key
And say, "chin up, kid, what you got your eyes on now?"

You can move a mountain with the slightest touch
You can make the rain pour with a smile
You can grow a forest where the flowers never grew
And you seem to think that I can move mountains too

I never knew the truth to being brave
Was pulling back the bandage to show the scars
You showed me what it means
To wear your heart right on your sleeve
And not to be afraid of who you are

The bottles in me are made of finer glass now
The claws around my mouth don't scratch so hard
The tear tracks down my face they wash right off
And I can take the armour off my heart

If I'd had that crystal ball
I might not be here at all
If I'd known a year ago
How it all would end
I had to leave it up to chance
I'm no victim of circumstance
But nothing's ever certain
When your path, it starts to bend

To all those who said no thanks
She's way too intense
No one ever changed the world
With sheer indifference

Trading tears for safety
Seemed like a fair exchange
But I cast it all aside
When I said, "you're fine, now go and change"

I can move a mountain, I can touch and twist the sky
I can shift and shape the stars and wipe the clouds out of my eyes
I stand in the centre of the storm, I'll see it through
'Cause maybe I can move a mountain too
