Oh, Corona

It's my birthday just turned eighteen
But Covid-19's got us late teens feelin hasty
I've been thinking about life and all of the time that I've wasted on my phone screen
And I'm wondering how long I've got before this virus takes me down

Is it too cliche to say I missed my prom
Cuz inner city public schools sure know how to get it on
Now I'm not gonna lie and tell you that I would be elected as the prom king
But imagine the surprise of all those guys when the virus takes the crown

I've been told that it's never gonna be that way
But I miss my friends every single day

Oh Corona
Took away my senior year
But I guess I'll save my tears until the quarantine is over
But I'm so alone
I cry these days are just too long
But I'll sing my sorry song until they're done
And confirmed cases drop to one
Then to none

I saw the news up on my tv
And it don't matter if you're Fox or you're NBC
Because ten thousand lives were lost last night while I sat here on my phone screen
And how many more were sent to the morgue as I wrote these lyrics down

I know that it shouldn't have to be that way
But I'll be more cautious when I say

Oh Corona
You can take my stupid tears
Can I trade them for the years of people's lives that are now over
But I'm so alone
Hot damn how could I be so wrong
I've been blinded for so long I became numb
But let those cases drop to one
Then to none

I've been thinking about life and all of the time that I've wasted on my phone screen
And I'm wondering how long I've got before this virus takes me down
