May We See More

Today as we see each other

May we see more than the signs they may be carrying
May we see more than the accessories that they own
May we see more than the attire they are wearing
Or how humble or grand is the place they call home

May we see more skin pigmentation
May we see more than male or female
May we see more than "Whose from what nation"
May see that we must let hatred pale

May we see we've all had to make choices
Some easy and some 'harder than hell'
May we see that we all have voices
That we all have our stories to tell

May we see we all have a mother and father
Some know them and some love them both
Some may never have known one another
We're all given different paths from our birth
May we see that we all love someone
That we all want the best for them and ourselves
May we see that we all have an opinion
And together there's no problem we can't solve

May we stop and think of that other person
And realize deep inside we're the same
We all see the same moon and the same sun
May we see futility in placing blame
For no one is perfect nor always wrong or right
No one knows all that there is to know
May we learn from each other and never loose sight
That life and liberty is our common goal
