Opportunities

There was a girl, soft lips, and them perfect eyes
Shy chick, not the type to really flirt with guys
And the type of girl you never wanna hurt with lies
So if she gave me one shot, it would be worth a try
Thinkin' back to the time of when I met her
Tried to take her home, but I knew she knew better
Had me like damn, had to tell her who I am
I ain't seen her with a man, so I came up with a plan
Finally approached her, feelin' in my zone
Told the bar, time to get me two shots of Patrón
Asked her what the reason was for being here alone
She just laughed, until she put her number in my phone
Then we really started talkin' 'till the convos got deep
And now she thinkin', this the girl I'm tryna keep
Staying up all night together, barely gettin' sleep
Starin' at the stars on the hood of my Jeep
Now I'm feelin' so blessed that I'm callin' her mine
Now she fallin' into love, and I ain't fallin' behind
She ain't even gotta say it though, it's all in her eyes
So I told her that I love her, shit I thought it was time, yeah
I knew I had a real girl, and all them hoes fake
And this little thing we got is what you call fate
Even started talkin' 'bout gettin' our own place
So undoubtedly I knew I met my soulmate

Yeah, time passed she really started to act different
She would talk on the phone, and told me I can't listen
But I never had a clue what she was hidin'
And when I tried to talk about it, she remained silent, damn
But I knew that I had to get to the bottom of it
Not for nothin', the girl was different, and I was buggin'
I figured that if she won't tell me on her own
All I really gotta do is get my hands on her phone, damn
What could it be though? I knew she wasn't cheatin'
She'd tell me how she feel about me, every time we speakin'
Not to mention that she with me every weekend
But still I took her phone, before I really started tweakin'
So we could finally talk about it, she won't be distressed
And everything be back to normal, so it seem the best
Damn, my heart dropped when I seen the text
Threw the phone, I ain't even wanna read the rest
It was a text to a cousin up in Maine
That in a few days she'd be hoppin' on a plane
Halfway across the globe just to study abroad
And she don't even wanna tell me, she don't love me at all
She just walked into the room, I said, "Look what you made me do"
"You 'bout to leave forever, you don't even think it through"
"You tryna leave with all my life, I wanna stay with you"
"And girl if you don't feel the same about me, say it's true"
"What now I got a couple of days?"
"Before you leave, shit, I hope you have a comfortable stay"
"And don't worry 'bout me, no I won't jump in your way"
"You wanna leave? Good, I don't give a fuck what you say"
"Damn, and how you do this after everything we been through"
"Plannin' for the future we were talkin' 'bout kids too"
"God damn I would've never believed"
"That you would lie to my face, straight get up and leave"
"We just really gotta talk girl, I'm begging you please"
"I know there's no girl in the world better for me"
She just looked me in the eyes, and put her hands up on my chest
Prepared to answer and she took a deep breath, and said
"If it was up to me, then I would never leave"
"I'm not happy about it, I won't pretend to be"
"I just know that I gotta do what is best for me"
"And if we end up together, then it was meant to be"
"But after everything, who would've thought
"That our love, so beautiful, lost"
"Deeper than the waters that I'm soon to be across"
"But life goes on, and opportunity cost"
Yeah
