I'm Doing Fine

Hi mom it's been a while since I got your note
A lot of things have happened since I last wrote

You know why I'm now alone and there's layoffs at the plant
Take it day by day even when I feel I can't

Sometimes I want to run back home and hide
Give up on the world just lie down and cry

I know you would welcome me if I were to come home
Need to make my own way even if I seem alone

Hard days have come and gone
You worry I'm not too strong
And I'll never find my time
Don't you worry about me, I'm doing fine

Though I may be far from home
I know I'm never alone
You're the part that makes me shine
Thank you mom, I'm doing fine

When I left for school I thought I knew it all
Always with an answer I couldn't stand feeling small

Taking out my anger on you never seeing your tears
You always forgave me and eased all my fears

Keeping a smile on your face through your sacrifice
Now I see what you gave us loving as you paid the price

I write this message for you filling it with love
For all that you did for me you're a gift from above

Hard days have come and gone
You worry I'm not too strong
And I'll never find my time
Don't you worry about me, I'm doing fine

Though I may be far from home
I know I'm never alone
You're the part that makes me shine
Thank you mom, I'm doing fine

And when days get me down and I can't see the dawn
I hear your gentle words that keep me pushing on, pushing on

Hard days have come and gone
You worry I'm not too strong
And I'll never find my time
Don't you worry about me, I'm doing fine

Though I may be far from home
I know I'm never alone
You're the part that makes me shine
Thank you mom, I'm doing fine
