For The Sake Of Love - Commentary
I'm kind of sad
We have been visiting with Sheryl Crow about her new album, "Threads"
And she's been telling us the stories behind all of these amazing songs
And I can't believe we're already to the last song on the album
Featuring the incredible and incomparable voice of Vince Gill
Talk about, "For the Sake of Love"
I write, "For the Sake of Love," I wrote it actually years ago
And I've held on to it 'cause I haven't known exactly what to do with it
But It's a relationship song, and it's about having the world kind of-
Whether it's the world at large, if you're a well-known person
Or whether it's your world
Pass judgment on who they think you should love
And you know as parents, I'm sure we do it to our kids
We declare who's right for our kids in one way or another
I'm sure for people who are feel like whoever it is that they love isn't acceptable
Which we see a lot in gay communities
And especially with young kids having to come out to their parents
I mean just the burden of loving who you love and feeling like people don't approve of it
That's really what the song is about
So I had it where it was just me on the song
And In the 11th hour, I called Vince to sing on it
Vince has been unbelievable, I mean he's-
I call him, and he just always there for me
And he's been there like through some really tough times for me too
And he's just, you know, he's the consummate musician
And he's- I don't even need to say it
But like has one of the most unbelievable voices in history
I mean, the guy's an unbelievable singer
And it needed to have him on the bridge to really pull across the meaning
That this is a song about two people who love each other
It's sort of my version of, "Somewhere"
Um, which was between Maria and Tony in West Side Story
And that's having him on it, I think really cemented that
Well, I don't think anybody would argue with me
When I say that I think Vince Gill has one of the most amazing voices
And to hear him and Sheryl Crow together, it's fantastic
This is called, "For the Sake of Love" off Sheryl Crow's Threads album
Which is available now
