A Boutique Affair

It's hard to make friends in your 20's
It's even harder to make them in your 30's
At this point, I'm really dreading the thought
Of making it, to my 40's

Once you've reached that point of over the hill
Are you making friends
Or padding out numbers for your funeral?
At this stage mine's gonna be an exclusive event

The grudges that you hold through your 20's
Are gonna be harder to break in your 30's
And I can't imagine why we'd even bother in our 40's

Once a holes been that deeply dug
Does it make sense just to cover it up
And move on leave, regrets
To gather dust?

A boutique affair is what they'll call it (Is what they'll call it)
A boutique affair for 'what's his name'? (For what's his name?)
He threw a party back in high school (back in high school)
But if I try just can't put a face to the name (didn't we)

Didn't we do this all instinctively?
When we were kids out on the street
And we'd meet up with other kids
Who shared similar interests?

There were no empty words
No doublespeak,
No saying yes,
When it's 'no' you mean,
Or maybe
As long as there's no one around to see.

A boutique affair is what they'll call it (is what they'll call it)
A boutique affair for 'what's his name'? (For what's his name?)
He threw a party back in high school (back in high school)
But if I try just can't put a face to the name

A boutique affair is what they'll call it (is what they'll call it)
A boutique affair for 'what's his name'? (For what's his name?)
He threw a party back in high school (back in high school)
But if I try just can't put a face to the name, or a name to the face
