Peace Around the Corner
So, they
Say that times have changed yet for me they stay the same
Watching this rerun back to back another who's black get killed and slain
Whether a shot to the brain or a knee to the neck it's continuous pain
And they often tell you to stay in your place, how do you keep from goin insane
It's unfair
They don't want none of us spared and so they try us
When hatred is in the air, you thinking I'm scared of a virus
Our death is live on prime time and you rather be quiet and eyeless
Or maybe you're in the White House and you're thinking of ways to divide us
You can hear it in the crowd, you can see it on the streets
And my way to deal with it all's to vent on these beats
A long time coming, the wicked is witnessing retribution
If you thinking your bubble is crumbling now, just wait until it's revolution
Too many of us beat and battered
We just wanna be heard, wanna be equal, wanting to matter
No tellin' what happens after, but all I know is that someday
Somehow, some way, I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
Enough of the banter, addressing these issues in all of my stanzas
Ain't got all the answers, still ain't no swaying away from my stances
To a prejudice mind, my kind don't fit societal standards
And to know that my young'ns will go through the same, this world I don't understand it
The line has been drawn, no towing the balance beam
It's either we side by side or you're for my demise no in between
But now it's becoming apparent that they only look up to us when we lynched
'Cause Lady Liberty's beautiful but her core is a heartless (whoa)
Everyday I'm a target, can't even walk in my own streets
I feel like Pac, I see no change, but can I get a little peace
You hate us but you hate yourself more this we know to be true
But we all gonna suffer the same fate better pray that you make it through, 2's
Too many of us beat and battered
We just wanna be heard, wanna be equal, wanting to matter
No tellin' what happens after, but all I know is that someday
Somehow, some way, I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
Hope I see peace around the corner
