Prayer

I don't do this very often
I've been wondering if you're really there
So much weight is holding me down
And I'm asking for the strength to get me through
You are the light and the way, they say
But for some reason, I don't feel as sure anymore

And every time I pray
You always hear me say
That I want to believe in you
Won't you send me a sign
That stands the test of time
Or is this the truth breaking through
Are you really there
Or am I just scared
And holding onto a fairytale
I really need your care
This is my final prayer
That I will share with you

There are dragons that burn me with fire
There is pain, suffering, and hunger
They all make me tired
So tell me was it crazy to believe in things
I cannot see or understand

'Cause every time I pray
You always hear me say
That I want to believe in you
Won't you send me a sign

It's funny all the hard times I've been through
And even when I'd get no answers
I would still choose to believe in you

I'm waiting on a sign
It will come in due time
Because this truth is breaking through
I know that you're here
But just know I'm still scared
That this is all an illusion
So I hope that you cared
