Choice

Chair lying there broken
Know it used to stand tall
There's a child there praying it'll be over soon
Whispering, "I gave it my all"
Fight back the tears that seem to drown his voice
Her eyes dry for years blocking out the noise
Desperate to try, never found that joy
We cry together when we saw that choice
When we saw that choice

He don't want to feel the pain no more
She got the pen in her hand
Pages everywhere, no matter how he write it
It won't take away the fact he ain't here
She picks up the chair and takes a gentle step
He rests for a minute just to catch his breath
Desperate to hear a sign from the Lord
We cry together when we saw that choice
When we saw that choice

Now I don't know where they're going
But I know where they've been
I've lost hope so many times I could try to tell the story
Don't know where I'd begin
Life sometimes is just a fight uphill
If we survive we can help them live
Desperate to try, see a life of joy
So when it's my time, know it ain't my choice
Ain't my choice
