Big Kids

I have a growing list of chores
To be done before playing outside but of course
They won't be done before dinnertime tonight
There's a new kid in town with some shiny toys
Or a neighbor with an opportunity to make noise
I'll be grounded for a week I can do no right

I'm feeling incompetent today
And I'm barely getting by

Let's fast forward to the current year
I'm still a kid with a house and a 5 o'clock beard
I'm still in trouble for the way I drag my feet
I'm sorry
That you've had to see
My motherboard malfunctioning
This is a tour of my endless shortcomings
