The Dead Move in Thoughts

Out in the garden
The long grass masking the path
Spiralling down the mountain to where the sleigh crashed
Deep in the dirt, calling to no one
Bones like a door to the event
Sunset between the pines; loose bark blocks the light
Coming from far just to stop here
Here, here and nowhere else
And it stops

How long will I have to go into this tunnel
Before it leads me somewhere?

Nobody knows it but all that needed to be said is so here
All of it at once
Nobody noticed, so it will be said again
Spare me; oh I've heard it all before, hear me
It's screaming just to show willing; all in me
You know I'll chew on this for years
So why bother to remind me?

It's always back to where I came in
Will I not see the end of it?
How much more is there to go?
Is it all before me still?
Have we even made a dent?
