A Place To Call Home

I've been up and down this same old road all my life
It gets longer every day
I've seen many faces, come and go through these eyes
Some have changed, some stay the same
I've had many lovers, broken hearts, my regrets
They will keep on haunting me
Life can feel lonely, chasing dreams
On this road, there's no way of turning back

I've been busy, making a living
I've had no time to make a life
One day I plan to buy me some land, build a house
For a pretty wife and child
And I will have me a place to call home

I've been many places
Paid my dues, small towns
To the big city lights
I've seen smoke and mirrors, blind my eyes, fool my heart
Sometimes fate can seem so real
I've been on my knees, lost my faith, broken down
But I'll get up and start again

I've been busy, making a living
I've had no time to make a life
One day I plan to buy me some land, build a house
For a pretty wife and child
And I will have me a place to call home

So I'll keep driving, while I'm dreaming
Of the day I can get off this road
I don't want much, but this life just ain't enough
To fill the hole in my heart
What I need, is a place to call home
