For Goodness Sake

Its hard to admit we are witnessing decline
But there's beauty in it too
The ungodly engineers taking technology too far
I think we'll all learn something
I've tried to sum it up on oh so many nights
But sleep keeps dragging me away
Realising bugs mean more to the planet earth than I
Watch butterflies migrate from Mexico

I'm conscious of the fact we still send boys far off to die
But they sign up unlike you
And all the bombs and planes and trains take tourists somewhere new
But those dynasties are dead
I think the bravest can live within their means
Our biggest dreams can steal the light
Kiss mother on the cheek your future's looking bleak
I'm off to china via the moon

So many issues keep going around in circles
But we've seen it all before
Guerilla tactics, lighting matchsticks cause we read it gets things done
I hate the fact the west was won
I wish Guy Fawkes success in all future endeavours
As business ain't exactly booming
Who are you fooling? You're just another crazy son
Take off that tie and avoid the underground

Walking through the high street and everything's for sale
I got no money anyway
Its not the first time my pockets have been empty
It makes consuming so surreal
I straighten up my spine and waltz on through the show
Only pretty people make TV
Shocking how little it reflects reality
Ignore the third world and the slum sides of town

And when there ain't no soul left or we're all long gone dead
This language dies along with you
All those turns of phrase and greetings that we never chose to use
That will be the biggest waste
We've all pretended that we listened once or twice
Let's not pretend their word's the only one with rights
You can't be finished if there's lots more to get done
Cause we all know evil runs the show
