Charmless Boy

She acted coy then got undressed
It was an honest mistake more or less
He swears to a life of temperance then drinks Italian wine and swears in French
He couldn't bring himself to say "I love you"
Even though she's all he thinks about
And when that feeling comes up
It's not too hard for him to drink it down

She works at the Oceanside, bar and grill
Where his favorite potion lies but still he sits inside and mopes
And the potion wasn't her it's a rum and coke
And now she heads into the bathroom a few days after
Realizing that the crimson tide was absent
And now an abstraction of a shotgun marriage passed through her head
A baby's carriage, a bartendress disadvantage said

Everybody else he had was just a fixation
But this was different it was more like frustration
Views her from across the street
From the cracks of a bus station
He doesn't know that what's inside her
Is his seed germinating

She thinks to tell a friend or two
And then she thinks of what they'll say or do
"That blundering blue boy, really Jane?"
The though pummels her mind and invades her brain

I should've never served him that drink
I would've thought with my mind if I had one to think with
She should've walked over to the sink
And said that I had to wash dishes and give him a wink
But a wink turned to a moan and a moan turned to her own
And his too, if he knew would he be happy or sad
Or filled with rage, her guess is enraptured but she's afraid

Everybody else he had was just a fixation
But this was different it was more like frustration
Views her from across the street
From the cracks of a bus station
He doesn't know that what's inside her
Is his seed germinating

I think it hit him then as he sat at home
Thinking bout', the time that she
Laid out for him on the floor
And she made her mind up on the charmless boy
She don't want him anymore
