The Couch Is Not a Napkin

You're eating some bread, It's slathered with jam
Now you've got jam all over your hands
You're looking around for somewhere that's soft
A place you can wipe to get the jam off

But please don't come near the couch over here
Just look at my face it's covered with fear
I'll get you something to make your hands clean
Just please leave the sofa alone!

'Cause the couch is not a napkin and neither is the wall
The dog is not a towel, that's not helpful at all
I can get you a napkin before you have time to blink
Or you go wash your hands off in the kitchen sink

You're running outside, playing in dirt
Now you've got dirt all over your shirt
And just like before, you come through the door
Your hands are icky, now there's dirt on the floor

But please don't come near the couch over here
Just look at my face it's covered with fear
I'll get you something to make your hands clean
Just please leave the sofa alone!

'Cause the couch is not a napkin and neither is the wall
The dog is not a towel, that's not helpful at all
I can get you a napkin before you have time to blink
Or you go wash your hands off in the kitchen sink
