The Creator
How many wars have started, lives brought to an end
Because some maniac believes he has the best fictional friend
Taking his morals from a book, that teaches racism is fine
From pages that have been translated hundreds of times
Homophobia, slavery, sexism and rape
From a 'superior being' that somehow lives in every place
Except where innocents are killed, and children are abused
But the narrative that truth beholds is never fucking used
Twisted reality, between what's wrong and what's right
Leading the sins of your youth, into the dead of the night
For as the moment you're born, they say you're born of sin
It might just be me but that shit belongs in the bin
They claim divinity, a moral monopoly
But anyone with half a brain can see the fallacies
How can they claim to be god, the strongest being to exist
Tell me, could you make a rock so heavy even you can't lift
We wanted to believe in the creator
And after we're dead we'll meet our maker
Didn't know how stars lit the night sky
Now we've evolved, we know the reason why
Fast forward to now, to our modern life
Still got the catholic church in which abuse is running rife
Religion's not a virtue, hasn't been all along
Need a book to give you morals Then you're doing something wrong
I know I'm not a saint, I know I'm not perfect oops
But I got decency, I got a tonne of respect
And none of that came from a fucking book
But from living life and every opportunity I took
We wanted to believe in the creator
And after we're dead we'll meet our maker
Didn't know how stars lit up the sky
Now we've evolved, we know the reason why
Didn't learn how to be from the scriptures
Didn't learn how to love from our god
Didn't learn how to care from our pastors
Didn't get our morals from the decalogue
We learn how to be from our parents
We learn how to love from our children
We learn how to care from our friends
We learn how to grieve by ourselves
Don't need to believe in a creator
Who cares about death, who cares how
We see the stars light up night sky
Let's live in the moment, live now
Because some maniac believes he has the best fictional friend
Taking his morals from a book, that teaches racism is fine
