Nightshade

As day fades, wrapping the world in nightshade
Orange and reds turn to deep grays, daylight has fled
The spirit of night is upon us

Starlight shines from on high at midnight
Partly obscured by the firelight blazing below
As embers cascade in the breezes

Moonglow lights a nocturnal tableau
Cricket songs reach a crescendo, chirping away
And gentle winds blow through the trees

Enshrouded in dark, yet teeming with life
The moon and stars bear witness night after night
To all that the waking world never sees

As day fades, wrapping the world in nightshade,
Orange and reds turn to deep grays, daylight has fled
The spirit of night is upon us

Enshrouded in dark, yet teeming with life,
The moon and stars bear witness night after night
To all that the waking world never sees

As day fades, wrapping the world in nightshade,
Orange and reds turn to deep grays, daylight has fled
The spirit of night is upon us now
