I was born premature
Predicted to die still
Accepted and beloved
Is what I testify
It was all by God's grace
That I can't deny and through
A mother's love is how I survived
A gentle conversion is all it took
Heard the message of the
Gospel and I was hooked
If it had not been for the
Lord I wouldn't be
Establishing my career
Raising a family
I'd be just another brother in
The system with a disability
See God had plans for me
Life pain took a strain
On me and my fokes
Brother survived cancer
Dad multiple stokes
Mom so bedridden
Still around taken notes
It's not that we can stop
This train but in
Christ there's peace to gain unsurpassing in Jesus name

Be real believe that He will

Stepdad cop shot my mom
Bullet to the dome
Doc said she won't last long
He was wrong at every turn imagine that
No Ron Howard nope it's just a fact
Her whole right side paralyzed
She couldn't talk
She learned to write with her left
Lean on a cane and walk
Moms couldn't raise all five of us
My step grandpa adopted
Me as his son
Now that's a man
I'm proud to carry the name Nelson
His only son and now
I have a daughter and four sons
The power of adoption
What Christ did for me

Only got a sweet 16
But now you see what Christ did for Nelson, my mom, and me

My Pops was his own worst enemy
When I was 3 he abandoned the family
We searched, and
We'd go wherever he'd go
That's why I was three, and
I was four in Puerto Rico
We lived in an abandoned house—
Poor house, "abandoned"
I know the feelin'
At least it had a ceiling
But there was no
Front door and
The floor was disappearin'
My Pops was disappearin'
Like the "no floor"
My Pops was disappearin'

Later, we moved to
LA from the Bronx
My life was
Disappearin' and
It still haunts
But with Christ you can
Believe in a breakthrough
