The Ballad of Pierrot & Pinocchio

I was woken up from a shattered dream which was lying in between
This reality as it seems and my idealistic schemes
Well, I'll confess I'm disappointed and disguise behind this make up
So you'll think that I'm so haunted, when I'm truly disconnected

Gotta admit this quiet chip on my shoulder was a myth
Lost my essence, got it sick, smashed my memory with a brick
Well, this delusion got me down, banged my head down on the ground
Got my eyes facing the wall when I heard the curtain fall

Wrapped in masks of faded apathy, lunacy I guarantee
But leave all the rest up to me as I plan my escape and flee
'Cos all those characters I wrote, they just took too long to quote
All the feelings they provoked and now the irony's a joke

And as I suffocate in this quiet hate, I require one more plot
Because loneliness must not be fate, but the embers must be fought
This co-dependency's afloat and we're running out of strokes
And I refuse to be your scapegoat every time you need a choke

But still you think you see through my reality
Are you sure you know me well?
'Cos I've deflated your personality and now I'm wishing you to hell
Because this master of deception has taught me everything I know
So you can keep throwing projections, but you'll never tame this soul

And this song is not a ballad
And this cry is not of shame
I'll keep walking towards the palace
Breaking patterns, changing names
Just like a bleeding Pierrot to a sad Pinocchio
Hiding right under your nose and living as your mirror ghost

I was woken up from a shattered dream which was lying in between
This reality as it seems and my apocalyptic scenes
Well, I'll pretend I'm disappointed when I hide behind this hurt
So you'll think that I'm so broken when I just don't give a fuck
