Twang

Well I must admit sometimes I'm wrong but I know what's good when I hear a song
They said old country had to turn around and send them hicks on a trip uptown
So they overhauled it with a whole new game
Said it needs more rock and a lot less twang

I guess the big wheels in Nashville town would rather make more money than a decent sound
Some of that stuff they're tryin' to pitch leaves a lot to be desired but it makes 'em rich
I'm not telling nobody how they should sing
But I liked it better when it had more twang

Left music lovers in a bad position gave into greed and sold out tradition
Said we'll decide what the people want guess some agree but I damn sure don't
Between then and now there's a great big gap and it's all filled in with country crap
If they don't like it who gives a dang
If you call it country put back the twang

I don't have much more to say except why did them fools do us that way
They can record and know how to mix it but when it ain't broke why try to fix it
From what I hear I'm not impressed screwin' things up is what they do best
But I'll decide what's good to me the stuff they push ain't worth what's free
So have right at it if that's your thing
As for me I'll take more twang
