Farewell (Feathered Friend) dedicated to the memory of Cory Bush, Carl Allen & Donald Gamber

My friend Carl was found today
His dead corpse lay in the car where he o.d'd
By his side a crack pipe and an old hunting knife
And a note that simply read this is reservation life.

He's gone too soon
But that's the way the story often goes around here
Farewell my feathered friend
Farewell

I cried when I heard that Donald had died
He went home and put a bullet through his head
They say he was sick of all the running and the strife
I guess he must have been tired of reservation life

Now he's gone away
That's the way the story often goes around here
Farewell my feathered friend
Farewell

Sometimes life can seem so hopeless
On this side of nowhere
Lost between traditions and the ways of this world
Well, it feels like nobody cares, nobody cares.

My cousin Cory he got away
Hung himself by his neck from a chandelier
Searching for a way to ease the pain in his heart
Trying hard to forget his reservation life.

Now he's gone for good
And he won't be coming back anytime soon
Farewell my feathered friend
Farewell
