Hours in the Day

It looks as though the time is coming for the curtains to be closed
I'll steep the tea and you can gather all your thoughts you want exposed
You paint your picture, call it finished, while you wait for it to dry
If I had known this when I started then I never would have tried
A few more hours in the day would help to ease this heavy load
Just look both ways, then look again for safety when you cross the road
It's filled with pieces of the lives you see pass by you every day
And I know something of the words you utter so you often say
Then we wandered through the fields
Clouds roll by and make a shield
Night falling, dawn coming
Swinging in the breeze, ebb and flow
Stop to dim the lights, blow a fuse
I would never shy from the warm
Touch of nothing felt
Hollow
Did you ever, ever whisper her name?
Ever whisper her name
