Bruises

Not like I didn't notice
Bruises raise to the surface
Creamier like milk spilt over
Laughter and two cups of coffee on a window table

Bruises she didn't know were there
Wandered across her skin to stay
She doesn't mind sharing her body to colors she felt for
Purple for lavender she sees in the corner of her mind
Gold for small dancing light shinning off a woman's earring
Passing her on the subway

Deep pink for her lips
When the night kissed her forehead
On her way to the nightlife she craved
All these colors she rents her skin
I didn't notice they bloomed
With each sliding finger of mine
Up her arm on accident

Her body wraps itself continuously through layers of knit and tassels
So many blankets to encase an empty rib cage
She's never empty but always feeling so hollow
She swings from bed to floor searching for air
Wrapped up in comfort
To wake up in warmth next to a wall and myself
She always slept with one foot in the daring air
