No Harm in Looking Back

Well I got in my car and pulled out of my drive
Put on some tunes and I was feeling alive
Singing along to a rock and roll song
In the afternoon

I was thinking of days from when I was young
When I knew it all and I was highly strung
Finding my way, but being passé
Like an old cartoon

There's no harm in looking back
Smiling and crying and keeping track
Recalling friends that have come and gone

Grinning and humming along
That's where we came from

I sat in class waiting for the bell
On hot summer days, bored as hell
But those last two years, laughing with my peers
Were a golden time

Once I finished school, I was on my own
Feeling grown up and feeling alone
Showing some zeal, but keeping it real
Was my mountain to climb
