Two Ways

You may feel as though your life is torn two ways
You might remember better days
You may fear that your dreams will fall apart
You might produce a work of art

It's just a story that you tell yourself
To help you sleep at night
A story you can tell yourself
So can get on with your life
And that's alright
And that's alright

In your passing of a place you used to know
Somewhere you'd often go
You reflect upon the distance to the past
You thought your childhood would last
Forever and until the end of time
And so you drank you drank your days like wine
Looking in the mirror of your mind
You see the years have been unkind

So lay your head down darling
Sleep beneath the sunny skies
And if you've trouble resting
Maybe you'll philosophise
You might be surprised

If her path is of a different way to yours
And you're seeking a recourse
No that no one you have loved can be replaced
And your grief you must embrace
And before you know it you will be away
On a different kind of day
And while on occasion heartache will return
A lesson you will learn

As the years go by we meet a lot of friends
And many we forget
People's lives are lived to different ends
And that is nothing to regret
Never try to live a life without mistakes
Cause you'll learn from those you make
But be careful not to waste your time
There's plenty mountains more to climb
