Summer Camp (Live)
I heard the gate ricochet as I
Left the place
That for a summer felt like home
I'm leaving slower to speak
With more wisdom to share
A lot more grateful, and sun-kissed
And I'll admit
A little more scared
Just twenty minutes out
I miss what's in the rear view mirror
What now once was and even what
It might have been another year
We threw up "I love you!"
In sign language with our right hands
Can't help but wonder
Is the world about to end?
Heaven come quick
But there's work to be done
I can't hold you right now
Will you remember me, and how?
Will you call, will we talk,
Will I remember what I don't want to forget?
Still Heaven come quick
That Friday worship night
I saw a young man changed
Saw him fall in awe on
His very face
A once still soul, now singing out
It is well
And You broke my heart,
In a beautiful way
Let me see freedom, where once
I'd seen only chains
So many chains, may grace abound
"Oh you of little faith, why do you doubt?"
But You sustain us anyhow
Will I remember what I'd rather forget?
Please remind me You're not
Finished with me yet
Lord, there are moments that taste
So bitter in my mouth
Yet your grace, sweeter than honey
It touches my lips and they pour out
Praise with a strength that couldn't
Be of my own
You sustain me when I'm nothing, Lord
I hear you rattle these dry bones
And when my pride was shot,
My stomach in knots
Fear took me and told me,
"You're not enough"
The Spirit intercedes-
YAHWEH I AM,
You rattle these dry bones!
And even when the storms blew
Around me, You set my feet on the rock
Said, "don't forget to look up"
And I see it now, in this quiet,
After the dancing and the storms
The lesson that I didn't know,
But You would have me learn
Through it all, You never left,
Faithful when I was faithless
You are greater than my feelings,
A joy beyond the circumstance
And it is well, it is well
So remember, don't forget to look up
Heaven come quick, but there's
Work to be done
"Oh you of little faith,
Why do you doubt?
Did I not fill you up
Each time I poured you out?"
You save us anyhow,
Raise these dry bones
You are not just on Your throne-
I don't walk alone
Left the place
That for a summer felt like home
I'm leaving slower to speak
With more wisdom to share
A lot more grateful, and sun-kissed
And I'll admit
A little more scared
Just twenty minutes out
I miss what's in the rear view mirror
