Intro To Both Sides Now
Our guest is the Leonda, and Joni Mitchell is here
Joni, are you ready? Yes
And Joni is a- this is her second time on our program
Leonda is first
And Joni Mitchell is now appearing at the second fret
Joni's going to stay around for a- a week
Is that what it is? Another week
Another week, yeah
Joni, do you, uh, are you tuned up, or-?
Yes, I'm already all set, okay
I've got my little listed requests
And they requested all the ones I wanted to do anyway
Yeah
Joni's going to try to make the show the next week, when Gordon Light-
We're going to have an all-Canadian night here next Sunday evening
Gordon Lightfoot will be in at the main point, and Joni will still be around
You know, at the second fret
So we're going to try to have Joni and Gordon on at the same time
Joni Mitchell, our listeners will remember, is the author, composer
What do you think? I guess you call yourself the author, Authorist?
Composer. Of The Urge for Going and the Circle Game
And, uh, what's that song about the city? Night in the City?
Night in the City, Night in the City
And I've heard you've written a lot of new things that you're doing now
Oh, yes. I've written
I think, about ten or a dozen songs since I was here last
Want to do some of the requested songs, or-?
Let's see, what have we got here?
Night in the City, Circle Game, Oh, From both sides now
I'm really glad that somebody requested that
Because that's a very new song
And I've been driving everybody crazy
By playing it twice and three times a night (which one, which one?)
It's called From Both Sides Now
Ah, I haven't heard that one (and it should going)
I'll play that one first
It, uh, I should tell people a little bit about it
I was reading a book, and I haven't finished it yet
Called Henderson the Rain King
And there's a line in it that I especially got hung up on
It was about when he was flying to Africa
And searching for something
He- he said that in an age
When people could look up and down at clouds
They shouldn't be afraid to die
And so I got this idea from both sides now
There are a lot of sides to everything and
And so the song is called From Both Sides Now
