The System

System designed to oppress
I must confess that I don't like the things that I'm seeing
Tendencies they manifest
How could you lie yourself and say you do not see it?

Lately been feeling perplexed
A little ashamed to share DNA with human beings
You can't admit that you blessed
See the injustice unfold then come up with reasons

Maybe he's gangster
Maybe he's criminal
Maybe he shoots or
Maybe he's thuggish
Maybe he's this
Maybe he's that
A whole lot of maybes
But what if he wasn't?

8:46 Been stuck in my head
They killed Breonna while sleeping in bed
They killed Philando for grabbing his ID
Garner sold cigarettes
Ended up dead
Martin did nothing
An innocent kid
Rice only 12 now he don't get to live
Arbery jogging
2 Ran up on him
Shot him in broad day don't know what he did
List never ends when it shouldn't exist
Can't help but feel that there's something amiss
Imagine the feeling of fearing whatever you do in this world cause there's always a risk

System cause civil unrest
Videos circulating we could never unsee it
You know you clicked on it too
Yet you gon lie to yourself and say you don't believe it
Family falling apart
Mom lost her child over nothing her heart is in pieces
They can't admit their own privilege
See the injustice unfold then come up with reasons

Maybe he's gangster
Maybe he's criminal
Maybe he shoots or
Maybe he's thuggish
Maybe he's this
Maybe he's that
A whole lot of maybes
To die by the dozen

Murder is murder
I never got why uniform means the killer is innocent
Why every time a minority dies their mugshot the picture the media publish?
Imagine you losing your life off assumption from prejudice people who lie
They mastered the fabrication of these stereotypes they created to break and divide
You see a black man and quickly run across the street like its safer on the other side
When history show us the white man more likely to kill you
Therefore you more likely to die
