Oak & Stone

I crawled down a dark path and shed my skin
Grew beyond the tattered wrath and let myself in
Found my solace damp and cold where sunlight once held me
Cut my cloth deep and bold and let the night arrest me

Swarms of fireflies led my way to the old oak tree
Fractured light cracked open the day and agreed with the leaves
Twisted roots wrapped around and whispered in my ear
To take claim the tilth and ground and wept a silver tear

He weeps for my lost dimension
I sip the salt with attention
We turned and we layed together
To rest in the forged heather

Our trusting tangled limbs let go with a kiss of mist
A release of time an age ago soft and endless twist
As i crawl away his branches stretch reaching out for me return
And i picked a path through the thorns and vetch as the world turned crashed and burned

A stinging belly my scales warmed made my way to the stone
Shimmering like jewels adorned they mend and crystalized my bones
An ancient relic dried in the sun I wait to be reborn
Through many lives that seem as one through skin and oak and stone

He weeps for my lost dimension
I sip the salt with attention
We turned and we layed together
To rest in the forged heather
