Lavender

He changed the road in silent ways
He closed his own heart's iron gate
There are words and there were vows
A life has reached the end by now

Hardened sheets enshrouded
Many a memory that abounded
(Where not even a mind would settle
He was leader and victim of his own battle)

Her steady ghost in the purple fields
Of lavender keeps piercing his shield
As a son of the ruin solitarily born
To the unknown he was solemnly sworn

The pavement bears the finest trails
A rememberance to those who failed

Along the railroads of cracked earth he went
To reach the freedom of all man
He would only die to live again

He kept walking out no matter which door
Carrying time's burden forevermore
