Winter Warmth

I can taste the emptiness in a moment fueled by passion
Like seeing into the future of a moment that I will discover
Skipping pages in my novel, eager for a spoiled ending
But bitter that I can't forget it
Going forward
I have to know

If we take one more chance, what more harm could it do?
Is that a knife behind your back?
Or are you here to wrap my wounds?

I can feel the resentment
Welling in my chest already
Bitter from disagreements that haven't happened yet
Residual jealousies from fictitious thoughts
And skepticism when we both know the truth
You and I, we've both been here

If we take one more chance, what more harm could it do?
Is that a knife behind your back?
Or are you here to wrap my wounds?

I can hear the raised voices
Like a cassette tape fast-forwarding
Scrambled with volume and damaged as it unwinds
And the words get stuck in my head
Earworms and parasites
Finding a warm dark place to nest and grow

I have to know
Cause I have some regrets
They're a blemish
On the face
Of reckless abandon
Reckless abandon
I have to know
I have to

If we take one more chance, what more harm could it do?
Is that a knife behind your back?
Or are you here to wrap my wounds?
If we take one more chance, what more harm could it do?
Is that a knife behind your back?
Or are you here to wrap my wounds?
