Riverfronts

Midnight on the riverfront
Starlight shimmered water
The old man stares out at the docks
Thinking about his daughter
Midnight on the river front
Lovers stroll along
His daughter misses this place
Wondering what went wrong
Is he a vault
Or was it her fault

All along the riverfronts
Dreams and currents collide
The old man wonders how he'd feel
If he found out his daughter died
Wishes the river could carry her home
Back to his side
Looks at his reflection now filled with regret

Why don't we resolve
Like rivers do at the mouth
New bodies of water
As they flow south

She misses the riverfront of her childhood
Does her father know things are sort of good
He'd be called grandpa now
If they ever talked
But there's no riverfront to take a long walk
