The Board Meeting

Running from my problems, what I'm doing?
Doing it to hide from Your vision
Visions of my life, what I was given
But given doesn't always mean taking
Taking the next step will be the hardest
The hardest things in life give reward
Reward is a place in Your kingdom
But to get there I need You, Lord

Tired of all the darkness in my heart
Thought that I could burn it out myself
But now I see that I need Your help
'Cause I can see this life is ever changing
But not changing for the right reasons

My peers have lost all their concentration
I guess we thought we'd find it in a bottle
Or maybe somewhere tucked inside a spliff
Maybe we thought You wouldn't get a whiff
Maybe we're just trying to bridge the riff
Drowing in the liquor need a skiff
Or maybe I just need to be protective
Protective of my mind and of my heart
'Cause all these sins are actually detrimental

Breaking things apart, am I mental?
All of these question that weigh on my mind
And then play all these tricks like I'm skating the line
Maybe they're visions or are they a sign?
Lord lend me Your sword, so I can remind
My peers that You are always on our side
Forever and ever my defensive line
And when I'm in darkness, You will shine
