Red Skies

Along a broken path of golden glass
Beneath the rooftop gardens twisted vines
Spending days hidden underneath cobblestone
After night fall we'll see just how high we can go
Bare feet with all our luck strapped to a string...
Amongst other things

Takes a lifetime to say why it aches, a second to lie
And pretend all it takes to replace it is glitter and wine
If nobody asks, that's cause they all know,
That's just how it goes, it's where we call home
And nothing's worse than those who just can't put on a show

Hello again old friend of mine
My loyal partner in crime
Will you be here when the sun goes down?
Or are you as scared as I?

Blood in the water, the colour of rust
A flash of raven hair, then ashes to dust
You never think much of what you say
I take it to heart though all the same
Then in the end I don't quite know who I should blame

Hello again sweet love of mine
My crooked angel of light
Will I see you in my dreams tonight?
Red seas beneath a red sky
