What's Next

Saw a small group of kids playing on the court
When the cops rolled up and told them to abort
Do as I preach not as I do
Should you lead by example or do the bidding of few
What I saw it felt like oppression
Some are even going into depression
Empty streets where there used to be many
Vacant lots where there used to be plenty

Normal can't be new, I'm not living in fear and neither should you
We're all in this together it's true, but I can't see why, I cant see why
You comply

Barren beaches, political speeches, and faces are covered wherever you look
Feels like we're living in a movie, or characters in an apocalyptic book
Quivering in the wind, afraid to breathe the air
So sad to see everyone so scared
And as you follow the flock, I'll be using my brain
And thinking of God while you all go insane

Normal can't be new, I'm not living in fear and neither should you
We're all in this together it's true, but I can't see why you comply
Oh I won't comply

What's the next story that we'll be made to believe
All that I want is for the people to see
You don't have to buy everything that you perceive
To be real just because someone put it on a screen
To be real cuz someone put it on a screen
Every week it's another distraction
While the people you follow, they push over reactions
I need a break from division and hate
I wanna see my friends and give them a warm embrace
I'm gonna see my friends and give them a warm embrace
