Saturday Morning Cartoons

The screen flickers in the hospital room
Saturday morning cartoons
And I'm reminded just how far gone
My childhood is dead and done
Taken apart in an old man's bed
And my therapist says
That I am a survivor
But sometimes I feel like she is a liar
No, I know what she said is true
But all of the men on the news
All try and deny her
Like they have the same sick desire to use us, abuse us
And why'd they have to make our bodies political?
Thank God that I'm so cynical
And I was only ten
When it happened

Saturday morning cartoons
Sat me in front of the T.V and told me he loved me
Saturday morning cartoons
While he touched me and took advantage of me
Told me that he loved me, loved me
While he touched me

Said he was heartbroken
If he really was
He'd be crying on the bus like me
He'd be sick of touch like me
He'd be scared of love like me
He would hate is face like me
He would know his place like me
If he was only eight like me
He would be ashamed like me
He would be in pain like me
He would feel the same as me
Dissociate like me
Forget his name like me

Saturday morning cartoons
Sat me in front of the T.V and told me he loved me
Saturday morning cartoons
While he touched me and took advantage of me
Told me that he loved me, loved me
While he touched me

Locking me in his RV
In the record Missouri heat
Bought me pepper spray to protect me
Oh the irony

Locking me in his RV
In the record Missouri heat
Bought me pepper spray to protect me
Oh the irony

Locking me in his RV
In the record Missouri heat

Saturday morning cartoons
Saturday morning cartoons
While he touched me and took advantage of me
Told me that he loved me, loved me
While he touched me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
Told me he loved me
