Carry The..?

Pick up the past and put it in your pocket
A mayo jar with a stuck-on lid
I don't get sad, I just get contemplative
I am a self-repressed art school kid
I won the prize, its eyes were winged like butterflies
See through me like window glass
But I'm a mirror image of a winner in a still-life drawing class

And if I could I would be there but it's so easy to give it up
The tea stain tangles in your hair, it's not so easy to give it up

I am a mish-mash of mismatched parts held together by sellotape
On the train I take a seat by the doors so I can make a quick escape
Down the rabbit hole into your salad bowl, there's no sound in outer space
What you don't whisper into someone's ear you'll end up screaming in their face

And if I could I would be there but it's so easy to give it up
The tea stain tangles in your hair, it's not so easy to give it up

Pick up the past and put it in your pocket
A mayo jar with a stuck-on lid
I don't get sad, I just get contemplative
I am a self-repressed art school kid
