You're frozen
In a lake full of every kind of danger
All around you
It's taking over
And you don't know where to go and so you
Breakthrough

You take your time
To realign to your surroundings
But somethings just not right

If I relax my grip
I might spread my wings
But that'll take some effort
And that's a daunting thing

I've said in previous lives
That imma light this fire
But I remain lukewarm
And shriveled in pain
I keep an eye on my mind
And on my latent desires
Ever searching for an ember
To kindle a flame
And there isn't a remedy
For crippling self-doubt
And shame-filled memories
And there isn't a science
To the art of being
It's just self-discovery
And that's what's heavenly

I've just begun to see
That the fruits of life won't just come to me
I find myself wondering
If the flame I crave
Will ever come to be
But of course that ember's hidden deep inside
Only recognized by the eternal eye
And of course the struggle is mostly in my mind
Which is deeply humbling

Against the grain of generations of pain
Epigenetically embedded in our bones and veins
It's a viscous beast and it can be slain
And its armor slow sundering
The siren call of these luxuries
That constant psychic hungering
Even so alone we must believe
And that mere belief is so comforting
