I Wish

When I was young I wished to be older
So I could drink in the pub, stay out late and fall in love
When I was young I wished to be grown up
'Till I found out what it was and now I want a refund
Cause I don't even have that much fun
I've got things to do and I've got school in the morning
Even when I get my work done, Im too worn out to be productive
So I lie in my bed lyrics flowing through my head
All this thinkings got me feeling nostalgic
About the days I spent on the road with my friends playing games 'till it was dark out
Thinking about a time I didn't think at all
Not a care in the world just a happy little girl
Whos mams calling her home
Who doesn't want to go but who knows she'll be out tomorrow
Then tomorrow never came got replaced with today
Playing games changed to a phone in my face
Now I'm scrolling, liking pics of people I don't know
Who continue to post so they feel less alone

I wish I was out on the road
Just me and a football kicked against the big wall
I wish I was out on the road
Playing chasing falling over knees cut and swollen
I wish, I wish, I wish I didn't wish it all away
I wish, I wish, oh I wish I was a young kid

And I guess I just miss her that little girl who lived in my heart and soul
Who spent her days with her friends spent her nights in Neverland
Convincing her parents that she really did go
With a heart full of adventure and a head full of questions so much
She wanted to know
She only left me, a few years ago
She took her toys and those mischievous eyes and skipped right out of my life
Hey say hi to Peter Pan and Captain Hook for me
I won't see Neverland again cause I no longer believe I went

I wish I was out on the road
Oh I wish I was a young kid

Water fights warm summer nights, grass stained knees and make believe
I wish I was out on the road
I wish, I wish, oh I wish I didn't wish it all away
I wish, I wish, oh I wish I was a young kid
