400 Years

Stars lingered over us shepherds, we commoners
Watching our flocks by night
Then in the sky above glory of heaven shone
Angel appeared in the light

And in 400 years
Not one word was spoken
And the prophets were silent
Leaving us in the darkness
But then what should appear
Do we hear a new sound in this silent night?
For the first time
Not a silent night

Come let us go and see a long expected king
Hurry, new paths we had made
"What is this?" wondered we "God in humanity?
Were we expecting a babe?"

And in 400 years
What a sight for sore eyes
Of the light through our tears
Hearts were pierced by a babe's cry
And we fell to our knees at the sound of a king
This our hearts reply
For the first time
Not a silent night

Now, we still waited long to sing our final song
And this whole earth joins in groaning
Someday soon we will see the glory of our king
Take us to our final home
And the trumpets will sound
With all evil defeated
We will rise from the ground
With this story completed

All will fall to their knees at the sight of a king
