4th Floor Blues

Woke up in the morning
with a knock on my door
it's my neighbor complaining
that my radio 's on

I tried to explain
"it ain't mine" I said
"I was sleeping in my bedroom
I just can't understand"

Before I respond
she started to shout
"you goddamn kids
you ain't like ours"

"You are not polite
and you ain't got respect
just make any noise
and I'm calling the cops"

Quarter to four
police at my door
"we've got noise complaints"
the one in front said

"Try to be quiet
'cause some people try to sleep"
"but have you heard any noise" I asked
"not really" he said

And while they were leaving
she started to shout
"stop lying bitch,
you'll pay for this"

"Madam please,
we're in charge for this"
these were the only words
that said the police

Late, late at night
had a ring-a-my-phone
it was an unknown number
I have never seen before

"What are you doing?
won't you ever grow up?"
very well you understood
it's my neighbor again

"I'm not what you hear,
I am not in my home
I am sick of your ways
won't you leave me alone?"

"I hope you die
as soon as you can"
These were the only thoughts
as I hung up the phone
