The Conundrum

Well I was pretty sure what I would be
Once schooling had its way with me
And off I'd go to rule the world
Be the man I'd druther

The Conundrum was I thought I knew
But the world it had a different view
So I left the town behind I knew
And wound up in another

You know if I'da had a plan
Or if I was a different man
I might of even settled down
And found myself a purpose

But every time the wind would blow
I'd find my wings and off I'd go
To see what I was missing or I wasn't

Is it yesterday today or still tomorrow
Time has such a way of moving on
It's not a thing that anyone can borrow
It's here when it's here then it's gone

Well the mountains called so I went there
But I didn't like that skinny air
And climbing all them hills was such a bother
And then I lit into a prairie town
And I noticed when I looked around
The things I thought I didn't need
Had now become the other

Then I kinda liked that flatter road
And I found familiar things I knowd
And I knew there was something in the air

Well after just a little while
I'd smell that smell and then I'd smile
Cause cow poop puts the barley in the beer

Is it yesterday today or still tomorrow
Time has such a way of moving on
It's not a thing that anyone can borrow
It's here when it's here then it's gone

So after all was said and done
The miles the smiles the midnight runs
I guess it isn't very far
From where I were and where I are
The town where I first came alive
Is maybe about an hours drive
If I knew that I'd end up here
I probl'y would've walked

Is it yesterday today or still tomorrow
Time has such a way of moving on
It's not a thing that anyone can borrow
It's here when it's here then it's gone
It's here when it's here then it's gone
