Driving the Nail

Swollen on the inside, I scream from memories
Out from the shadows it all comes back to me
Sick plot we're caught in between

I see it fall down all around me
And now I finally know the reasons why. Yeah, it was me the whole fucking time
This kind of thing should be common sense but it was so hard to wait when you're so far away
I should have known back then what I had before the distance made things bad
I sought quick fix, an instant fad, but no it don't work that way. It was a fucking mistake

It's driving the nail through my heart
You could have said something before it fell apart
I struggle to breathe again
It feels like failure is my only friend

I knew I should have seen this coming
It left me vomiting with guilt. I see the flowers start to wilt
And what remains it went full tilt
Wish I could apologize, wish you could see through my eyes
You could have told me what it put you through, but you said nothing and encouraged it too
I'll paint myself black and blue and then maybe one day you'll finally see it my way

It's driving the nail through my heart
You could have said something before it fell apart
I struggle to breathe again
It feels like failure is my only friend

There's just so much that was left unsaid
I could have changed things but you kept it all inside your head
Just one more kiss under the moon
In memory's bank I still feel your swoon
Find your way back to me once again

It's driving the nail through my heart
You could have said something before it fell apart
I struggle to breathe again
It feels like failure is my only friend

It feels so hard right now
But I know you and I will find our way through this world
And deep inside we know
Time and experience is what helps us to grow and evolve
