I Had A Vision

I had a vision in my mind's eye
A vision of where I thought my life would go
How quaint now to look back on that vision
A dream I dreamed a thousand years ago
And I had a vision in my third eye
A vision of transcendent beauty and light
I haven't forgotten that vision in my old age
In fact it's intensified

American football in the days of Bronco Nagurski
Was different than in the days of the great Brett Favre
Just like my dreams, they're refined now and polished and sculpted
But in essence the same dream I've always had
It's a dream that good-will will one day prevail
And people will take only just what they need
Or maybe just a little bit more but there'd still be enough
And there'd be no more poverty

I've held the vision throughout the daylight
And now it is time to lay my head down at night
I've done my job and now it is your turn
To shine and glow with transcendent light
Like Jesus Christ and Harry Potter before me
I gave my life for my friends and I'd give it again
So don't spend your tears when they lay me in my casket
Please turn, face the world and dance all night
Dance all night
