Christmas (on Wednesday)

Christmas was Wednesday this year
That's not a bad thing but I should make clear
That hey New Year's Day
It's on a Wednesday too
I wanted to write you a song
'Cos my gifts are garbage
And it wont be long
I mean, my money is meagre
But I'm only eager to share
That I care

And the ants
Crawl
Out through the holes in my kitchen
And they always find something
No matter how barren or bare
And the only Gift I want
Doesn't fit with this season
A new reason to care
And I'm loosing my hair

Christmas was crushing this year
Sitting in silence alone I can hear
Through the attached apartment wall
Feverous festivity
And yet there is no one to blame
A little denial sometimes helps one stay sane
It's a shame
New Year's Day
Wont much better

And in spite of my ant Armageddon
They've come back in force now
Oh to die in the cold here
Or the oppressive heat that's outside
And I hear news of an inferno that rips across half of this country
Terrifying in size
Blotting out the bright side
Merry Christmas
