BROKEN
This world, everyday further broken and marred
A world that exists behind a fragile facade
Of security, peace, not maimed nor scarred
Where anyone can deal with the hand of cards
That they're dealt, forced upon them at birth
'Free market economy' that values your worth
On how well they exploit you for profit, live off it
Selling your soul to a bidder who saw fit
To say with a straight face 'I made it myself'
Not an ounce of awareness of family wealth
Of privilege, of luck, of love from the state
Looking for countries to go 'liberate'
'Fortune favours the bold' they say
'Our hearts are not empty and cold' they say
'Pull yourself up by your bootstraps'
'With nothing to hide you have nothing to fear'
Then pay a single dollar of tax
And maybe we'll care enough to hear
More bullshit about a system that favours you
More of the rhetoric used by old slavers who
Once overthrown, they died, alone
An empty throne
In us the seeds are sown in stone
No explanation for exploitation
This very nation an imitation
Of celebration and false salvation
But segregation's still here
A one eyed king in the land of the blind
Told again and again that they 'won't serve your kind'
A society inherently flawed without purpose
Serving the rich while the poor struggle for purchase
In a system of purchases serving no purpose
Serve the system, take it day by day
Have your plans shot down like JFK
Cliche communique, the games we play
Obey away, you pay your way to victory
When racist ideals are built in a system
You tear that shit down, not go and assist them?
'What here is racist?' you want me to list them?
Here is the point, piss off 'cause you missed him!
Don't try and deny it, the system needs changed
With a youth revolution that leaves us estranged
From a structure based off of exchange, deranged
With doctored elections, results prearranged
Lies, disguised, a malevolent false memory
Inside you's the enemy, inside you's the melody
That lets you break free, to find your own remedy
To find some serenity, to find your identity
No explanation for exploitation
This very nation an imitation
Of celebration and false salvation
But segregation's still here
It's hard to see but i guarantee
'Cause legality and morality
Have disagreed for centuries
So many living in fear
A world that exists behind a fragile facade
Of security, peace, not maimed nor scarred
Where anyone can deal with the hand of cards
That they're dealt, forced upon them at birth
'Free market economy' that values your worth
