They say you are what you eat, but I don't
Could be that's why I'm a Nothing
They say you ought not to drink, nor to smoke, no
And yet the uncertainty has got me puffin' and chuggin'
All of my money is runnin' down my throat
A bad joke's pretty funny
Unless you're the one gettin' poked

If I could catch a break I believe I could make a change
But so far all that I've caught is a cold

They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover
How long have I been wearing these cuffs?
They say you shouldn't compare yourself to another
But that's all anyone ever does
Feel like a molehill next to Mt. Everest
All of these duds are getting picked for the team
While I'm sittin' here wonderin' what it is
They don't see in me

If I could catch a break I believe I could make a change
But so far all that I've caught is the breeze

I don't expect the break I catch to simply fall from the sky
Everyone says I'll be fine
And yeah I used to believe 'em
But now I'm wondering why

They say that actions speak louder than words
But these jerks have selective hearing
They say that kids are to be seen and not heard, sure
But that's absurd, from what I've observed
It's clear that their parents fear them
All of my instincts tell me to be concerned
Cut off at turn after turn
Just once I'd love not to get burned

They say there's some things can't be bought or sold, oh no
That feeling when just for a moment you know what it's like to be rich, yeah that's it
All of my folks are pretty much off of the fence
They've come to a consensus
Yours truly's starting to slip
